A piece of delightful update finally arrives at the doorstep for Leicester City fans, as reports Jamie Vardy’s extension is along the way.

Yesterday’s season-opening contest was all but harsh for the Foxes. Radical decisions, followed by tiring individuals, saw the hosts slip a 2-0 advantage against Brentford, only to be disappointed with an even draw. Such lackluster performances cannot continue, and the manager needs to assume some responsibility when his shortcoming was the reason for dropping two points.

Today, more as a City fan, my mood was sulky. That changed only when I stumbled upon my Twitter feed. Ekrem Konur, the renowned transfer specialist, reported about Leicester City’s awaited decision of offering their talisman Jamie Vardy a two-year contract, with an option of an additional year.

The extra special thing about this update was that Mr. Konur was kind enough to send me a message, informing about the same in its nascent stage. It was my privilege to be the recipient of such significant news firsthand. We also wish him a Happy Birthday on behalf of everyone at Foxes of Leicester.

Leicester City needed to retain its legend

The 35-year-old centre-forward’s current contract earns him about £7,280,000 at the King Power club annually. The terms associated with it are reproduced from a previous extension that the last standing guard signed on Aug 26, 2020. His current deal expires on Jun 30, 2023, and as reported previously, several of the top Premier League sides were seriously considering him as an alternative option.

Leicester City could not have afforded to lose another locker room leader after losing out Kasper Schmeichel at the start of this season. The outfit had to retain him, not just because he is a club legend, but because the last season’s tally proved once more that he is still one of the best goal scorers in England.

For this current season, we expect Patson Daka to expand his role, but that doesn’t mean Vardy will take a back seat. In critical matches, you need the prolific instincts that he possesses. In all fairness, it will be a gargantuan task for Brendan Rodgers and the team to get Vardy’s replacement.
