After blowing a two-goal lead and drawing to Brentford to open the season, Leicester City traveled to the Emirates Stadium to take on Arsenal. The gunners started off their season with a 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace. With the London team having a very successful summer transfer window, they were looking to continue their winning ways against the Foxes.

LCFC decided to come out in a 3-5-1-1 formation that was very similar to the Brentford lineup. Danny Ward was the man between the sticks, the backline consisted of Timothy Castagne, Wesley Fofana, Johnny Evans, Daniel Amartey and James Justin. With Wilfred Ndidi typically as the central defensive midfielder joined in midfield by James Maddison, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Youri Tielemans. Finally, the legendary James Vardy played upfront at striker.

The game started off hot early. In the first twenty minutes, both teams were able to attack and put pressure on the defense. Fofana had a brilliant tackle which he turned into a counterattack. What a great attempt it was. However, that’s about as good as it got for Leicester City in the first half. Arsenal would score their first goal in the 23’ minute. Gabriel Martinelli passed it to Granit Xhaka; who’s made his fourth run into the box somehow. Xhaka would then lay it off to Gabriel Jesus who would have a beautiful shot on goal which was ‘unsavable’ for Ward.
