Then the set piece issues came back. In the 35’ minute, Arsenal would be awarded a corner. The ball was crossed in and took a deflection off of Vardy. Jesus was left unmarked by Amartey and he was able to head it in. VAR would take a penalty away from Leicester and the first half would end with Arsenal being up 2-0.

The second half started off slow for Brendan Rodgers’ squad. However, an own goal by Saliba in the 53’ minute made it just a one-goal game. With Leicester finally getting some hope, the gunners would score instantly. This goal was nothing but embarrassing. A ball is whipped into the box and Ward and Fofana miscommunicate, leading to Ward dropping the ball and Xhaka scoring on a run into the box. Awful goal to concede, especially given the timing.

Dennis Praet and Patson Daka were subbed on for Amartey and Tielemans in the 63’ minute. A third substitution would happen in the 69’ minute as Kelechi Iheanacho was subbed on Vardy. Leicester would start to cook again after this. Maddison and Iheanacho would have some good back and forth play which lead to Maddison hammering a shot between Aaron Ramsdale’s legs in the 73’ minute; making the game 3-2.

Things were getting good for East Midland’s team again. That’s when the deja vu hit. Martinelli would hammer a shot past Ward in the 75’ minute. Talk about a demoralizing goal. Overall, this was a performance that said a lot about the squad. It needs to be torn down! Set pieces are still an issue, there’s no communication or passion shown from the players, and the quality isn’t what we had a couple of years ago. It may finally be time for Rodgers to go!
