Boubakary Soumare should be leaving Leicester soon
Foxes of Leicester’s take as Brendan Rodgers admits there is a possibility that Boubakary Soumare will be leaving Leicester City soon.
Arsenal are on an upward trajectory while Leicester are simultaneously on a slightly downward one. And that difference in quality, imagination and current confidence was illustrated perfectly on Saturday, unfortunately for the Blue Army.
This is not an attempt at fear mongering, and Foxes fans were reassured by a particularly enlightening Rob Dorsett article last week. So trust remains with LCFC. Yet faith in boss Brendan Rodgers is waning again, in fairly rapid fashion.
Without the signings he wanted – which is not his fault, even if promising them arguably was – the Northern Irishman has gotten his tactics, team selection and game management slightly wrong in both games. If pundits, supporters and neutrals notice issues, obviously Rodgers along with his staff do, too.
A stubbornness remains at King Power Stadium, with some of the faithful believing things will only alter from a managerial change. I don’t think we are realistically or deservingly near that stage – yet. The ‘good’ in the bank earned with the FA Cup triumph, Community Shield and high Premier League positions before 2021/22, under especially difficult circumstances, still stand.
Boubakary Soumare should be leaving Leicester City soon
Midfield is an area in which Rodgers has provided insight into his on-pitch plans. While Youri Tielemans’ future is undecided, there is clarity over Bouba Soumare – accompanied by typically indirect Rodgers management jargon.
Soumare was signed around this time last year to great optimism from the Leicester fans. Though the pedigree of being a France Under-21 representative and a product of Paris Saint-Germain haven’t translated into EPL prowess for this player.
In fact, the 23-year-old often looked rusty, with a touch on the ball that left much to be desired. Sadly for those of us expecting a significant impact, his play was laboured and counterproductive. Now it seems as though the Frenchman will exit Filbert Way entirely, with freeing up space key in making any acquisitions.
"Asked if he expected Soumare to move on, Rodgers said: “There’s a big possibility. Bouba’s in a situation where there’s another club that want to take him. He’s training really well but at this moment in time, his focus, in fairness to him, is elsewhere. But we know what the situation is.“There’s an opportunity that has come that interests him [FoL note: presumably AS Monaco]. It’s only right that if he’s not going to be here, we have to look at other players in that position.“It’s a shame because over the course of pre-season, I saw real improvements in him. That’s where it’s at. Both him and I are of the understanding that if the situation changes, he will come back into the fold again.”Leicestershire Live"
