Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana hands in transfer request

Fofana’s Leicester City career
Ever since he signed for the Foxes in 2020, the youngster has shown every inch of his quality. Initially expected to be slowly introduced into the first team, a then 19-year-old Fofana impressed Rodgers that much he fast tracked the defender into his matchday squad. Since then, he has become undroppable.
Unfortunately for the Foxes faithful, Fofana’s move to the East Midlands is eerily similar to the saga playing out now. A product of Saint-Etienne’s youth system, the Ligue 1 side were determined to keep their star for another year as they believed his stock would only rise – this is, reportedly, Leicester’s current stance as they believe his price will rise after the World Cup.
Fofana dug his heels in and took to social media as he deleted the club from his bios – sound familiar? – unfollowed Saint-Etienne, and then followed Leicester. A transfer request resulted and, despite the club standing firm that he wasn’t for sale, eventually a fee of £32m was agreed.
In his first year, ‘Little Wes’ established himself as one of Leicester’s best and smartest recruits in recent years and he built up a formidable partnership with Jonny Evans in the backline. Finishing 5th in the Premier League in his first season, Fofana’s crowning achievement was playing a crucial role in the historic FA Cup triumph.
