Stockport vs Leicester: Predicted Foxes lineup
Foxes of Leicester predict the Leicester City lineup for the Second Leg Carabao Cup fixture against League Two side Stockport County.
There is a way to recover from turmoil, at least in team sport: winning your subsequent match to consequently raise the collective spirits and confidence of the group. I make it all sound so simple and easy, don’t I?!
In reality there are more problems at LCFC than merely atmosphere and trust: reinforcements are needed along with a freshen up being overdue. Give it whatever name you like, a stagnant and regressive feeling exudes from the current Leicester side. Many of us suspect manager Brendan Rodgers is as to blame for that as anyone or anything else, yet any boss needs backing in the transfer market. Offloading Ill-advised and overpaid previous signings seems to be the issue in this instance.
Attention turns to Stockport County in the Carabao Cup now. Just as a preemptive side note for Rodgers: the Hatters are in trouble at the moment, just like their EPL opposition for Tuesday night’s game. In fact, the former have lost on four occasions already this season, with only one win in five outings.
However, especially with the east Midlanders very likely to heavily rotate starters, a victory versus Leicester would reignite and kick-start Stockport’s campaign. The scalp of an English top-flight club is a prized spoil in these competitions – therefore LCFC must tread carefully.
Having said that, below you can find FoL’s expected Foxes XI for the cup clash. Although they are not necessarily the men we would choose, rather who we expect the Northern Irishman to select. A 3-5-2-type setup is a possibility; deploying Albrighton as a wingback may be tried due to injuries, etcetera. Otherwise, Ayoze Perez may start the contest in some capacity.
Daniel Iversen GK; Caglar Soyuncu, Jannik Vestergaard, Daniel Amartey CBs; Luke Thomas, Marc Albrighton (c) WBs; Papy Mendy, Youri Tielemans, Dennis Praet CMs; Kelechi Iheanacho, Patson Daka STs.
