A specialist centre-back, Lacroix tends to play more on the right side of either a central two or a back three. When performing his duties, he drifts wide with the ball and dribbles forward frequently. I believe that should sound awfully familiar.

The 22-year old defender is positionally similar to ‘Little Wes’. The same can be said of his stylistic preference in-game. SmarterScout’s style ratings stick the player (benchmarked against Premier League players) at 99/100 in defensive quantity, 93 for dribbling tendency, 88 for disruption, 77 for ball recovery, and 65 for progressive passing.

These ratings are fantastic. To be honest, the player is stylistically perfect for Rodgers’ style of play and would be a huge upgrade on Daniel Amartey. To put that more critically, FB Ref rate the player on percentiles: 99th for interceptions and dribbling, 87th for progressive passing, 84th for pressures, and 80th for blocking shots on target.

Once again, this puts the player as one of the top central defenders for each of those categories. I would class this defender as a proactive, high-pressure, and passionate CB with plenty of technical ability and progressive tendencies. He is the perfect replacement for Fofana.

Leicester City would find half of their now available funds used up by the transfer. Unless with good add-ons, Lacroix is definitely worth over £20m, and we can expect anywhere between £18-25m upfront for such a quality player. I’d expect VfL Wolfsburg requesting more than his value the longer we wait.
