3 Leicester players who proved themselves vs Chelsea
By Ethan Henson
Leicester City fell to another disappointing defeat at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, with a Raheem Sterling brace securing the victory for 10-man Chelsea. There were a number of factors leading to the failure to overcome the men from the King’s Road, but here at Foxes of Leicester, we decided to focus on three players who proved themselves this weekend.
Youri Tielemans of Leicester City
Saturday saw the Belgian midfielder make his first Premier League start since a wobbly display against Arsenal – the leading contenders to sign him this summer – and on this evidence, sitting out of the Southampton defeat last weekend did him the world of good. Tielemans excelled in midweek, albeit in a deflating stalemate against League Two Stockport County, and this was followed up with a performance reminding Foxes fans how easily he can unlock quality defences.
Jamie Vardy was the recipient of some of the midfielder’s key passes, and if Leicester’s No. 9 was on top form, Tielemans would have registered at least one assist. It might take some doing to replicate the consistently excellent performances he produced in the 2019/20 and 2020/21 seasons, but this was certainly a start.
