Speculation will no doubt persist about the middleman’s future until the transfer window closes on Wednesday, but in reality, the chances are that Leicester will retain the Belgian’s services until at least January, barring a shock late bid. If the Foxes keep hold of him, Tielemans will know his performances must remain at this standard to put himself in the shop window for a January move or a summer free transfer.

Harvey Barnes

There was one goal, and another very contentiously disallowed goal for Harvey Barnes on his first 90 minutes of this Premier League campaign, with the winger showing how important he can be to the Foxes when everything is ticking nicely. The returning wide man had a key impact in changing the fixture’s dynamic, with his explosive counter attack pace leading to Connor Gallagher’s second yellow card for a tactical trip.

After that, Barnes exploited the space afforded to him in the midfielder’s absence, using his bursts of acceleration to frighten the Chelsea defenders. The No. 7 should also count himself very unlucky to not have given Leicester the lead, being adjudged to have fouled Chelsea stopper Edouard Mendy before he poked the ball in from close range.

In the second half, the Foxes suddenly found themselves with a mountain to climb, despite the man advantage, but the left winger halved the arrears with 24 minutes still on the clock, finishing with his left foot after a slick give-and-go with Jamie Vardy. This made Chelsea nervous, forcing the hosts to retreat in preparation for a City onslaught.
