3 Things to know about Leicester transfer target Loic Bade
By Ethan Henson
The centre-back has featured for 138 minutes for the France youngsters, on the winning side in substitute appearances at home to Armenia and Ukraine (both with clean sheets), along with a full 90 minutes on his debut in which his side drew away with the Faroe Islands 1-1. Badé also qualifies through his family to play for Cote D’Ivoire, but thus far has only represented France, which is the country of his birth, at junior level, having grown up in the Parisian suburb of Sèvres.
He’s contracted until 2026
One caveat in all of this speculation is that Badé will not be available as a cheap option for the Foxes to pick off, as he only joined Rennes from Lens last summer, and has a contract with the Ligue 1 club until the end of 2026. Renowned player database Transfermarkt values the defender at just £10.8million, but as the Foxes know too well, an asset is only worth as much as the selling club would command.
Leicester City would already likely have to pay over the odds to secure his services, and Rennes will be well aware of the desperation from the King Power side to pacify the animosity towards the club from its supporters given the lack of signings this summer. This will inevitably raise the asking price for Badé’s signature, coupled with the fact that the fee the Foxes will receive for Fofana has been heavily documented.
