One other potential candidate mentioned in connection with the Leicester manager’s job was Marcelo Bielsa, the man who Leeds had to part company with as he was taking them on a one way ticket to relegation. City’s defence is wide open as it is, and an immediate priority to put right, but if the Argentine’s set-up at Elland Road was anything to go by then it could only get worse.

There has been a lot of talk about the £230million figure Rodgers has reportedly spent since arriving at the King Power, but what this fails to account for is the actual net spend during his tenure. According TalkSport, this figure is somewhere less than £10million, so it’s no wonder the squad has failed to drastically improve in the last 3 and a half years.

Must Read. Rodgers will receive less if sacked than people think. light

If zero points are achieved from the next two Premier League fixtures, then the club will really have no choice but to take a gamble on somebody, if even only on an interim basis until the end of the season or until the right man becomes available. City would’ve expected to lose three of their opening six, but dire performances in winnable games against Southampton and Brighton have piled the pressure on. Eight games with one point would be simply unacceptable and at that point it might finally be time for change.
