After a woeful start to the season, Leicester City fans have finally been given good news following Brendan Rodgers’ most recent press conference.

The Northern Irishman spoke to the media ahead of the Foxes’ upcoming home game against fellow strugglers Aston Villa, however – following the recent passing of HRM Queen Elizabeth II – the game has since been postponed.

The Premier League has confirmed that the weekend’s fixtures have all been suspended; there is now uncertainty amongst fans and journalists as to whether the Premier League will resume next weekend, with high policing needed in London for The Queen’s funeral on Saturday 17th September. Whilst currently unclear as to who Leicester’s next opponents are, Rodgers’ comments do give us an understanding of which personnel may be available when the time comes.

Leicester City injury update

There was positive news on the injury front, with Rodgers confirming there are no new absentees. This means that, aside from Ricardo Pereira, the gaffer has a full squad to select from.

Ricardo has recently posted a video of his recovery on his Instagram, but he is still a long way from being back on the pitch. The Portuguese international suffered a gutting Achilles injury during the Foxes’ final pre-season game against Sevilla.

Following the match, it was revealed that the full-back would be out for up to six months, automatically confirming he would miss the upcoming World Cup in Qatar during December. It’s the latest in a series of lengthy injuries that Ricardo has endured, but his spirit remains strong, and his recovery is well underway.
