Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is likely to continue with Danny Ward as his current first choice Foxes goalkeeper, according to a quote.

Before we begin, the views held in this and these types of articles are never meant offensively towards players such as Ward or anybody else. Foxes of Leicester merely offer our opinions on news stories and back claims with statistics, facts, as well as examples. Occasionally we dip into a bit of educated conjecture; though the desired outcome is to outline issues in order for the Foxes to improve.

That being said, the ‘keeper situation at LCFC is particularly worrying, with all due respect. There is no doubt that Ward has been placed in the difficult position of backing up a weakened, underperforming and unconfident defence. Stepping into Kasper Schmeichel’s boots is no simple task, either. However, mistakes made by the promoted Leicester stopper whilst under no real pressure, versus Brighton &Hove Albion in particular, were quite shocking for a supposedly elite stopper. You cannot judge am athlete on one very poor game, although there have been other hints that he was not up to standard.

Against Brighton, Ward produced one of the worst goalkeeping displays I have witnessed in years and years of watching Premier League football. No doubt. And trust me, I wanted him to succeed in the Leicester net almost as much as anyone.

But the 29-year-old’s performance at the Amex was so inept that questions are rightfully being asked about the Wales international’s capacity as an English top-flight No.1. In all fairness, he’s only featured six matches in the division this season. Yet in those fixtures, an uncomfortable appearing Ward and his unsteady defenders conceded an unacceptable 16 goals. They side is already fairly well rooted to the bottom of the EPL table.

Nonetheless, heavily criticised boss Brendan Rodgers will probably continue backing Ward in the net. The quote below indicates that the Northern Irishman’s probable intention to leave Daniel Iversen on the substitute’s bench, for now:

"“He’s (Ward is) a top keeper, an international keeper, and I’m sure he will go on and get that consistency in how we would like to play.”Leicestershire Live"

Will Brendan Rodgers still have a job at Leicester City after Tottenham Hotspur game?

Before a ball is even kicked, most LCFC fans seem resigned to defeat in Saturday’s Tottenham outing. And who can really blame the support with how things are turning out so far? Should the east Midlands club lose the contest, Rodgers’ position becomes further untenable, as FoL deduce. Surely chairman Khun Top Srivaddhanaprabha would be left with no choice at that stage.
