Former Manchester United defender, ex-England international and current Sky Sports pundit, Gary Neville, offers his take on Leicester City’s worrying current situation.

When Gary Neville talks, football people listen. That is a fact – whether you like the man or not. Unless you turn the television, radio, or BBC iPlayer off whenever you hear or see the ex-United man (he is seemingly literally everywhere these days).

Nevertheless, Neville speaks a lot of sense. I suppose I am slightly biased here, as I believe the retired rightback to be one of the most candid and well-informed experts or analysts covering the sport. Many neutral supporters and professionals would surely acknowledge and probably back my previous sentiments, to be honest.

So, because the 47-year-old gave a typically frank, insightful and revealing interview in which he spoke on LCFC, Foxes of Leicester thought we would let you know what he said about the awful start to the 2022/23 campaign. Essentially, Neville is concerned for the King Power club: he believes overall transfer business was odd, says Rodgers is in a difficult situation (though most of us think some of the issues are of the Northern Irishman’s own making) and that it will be tough to get out of:

"“When you demoralise a dressing room, a coaching staff and a manager with the players that leave, it’s very difficult to recover that, so I would be very worried if I was Leicester, at this moment in time.”Full quote at Sky Sports"

Tottenham vs Leicester City preview

Let’s quickly look ahead at the rather bad omens for the east Midlanders as they head to the capital to face Tottenham. In total, the two sides have faced each other on 118 occasions over the years. Leicester have won 37 of those fixtures, with Spurs victorious 60 times. There have been 21 draws in all competitions between the pair.

In the Premier League, studying the most recent five meetings, Leicester have only managed to obtain the three points once. Whereas the London team have taken all points in every one of the other four games. There were no stablemates in that period. The latter outfit scored an impressive 13 goals in the five clashes, which is an average of netting 2.6 per match.

Along with negative statistics, other troubling omens stir for LCFC: a majority disgruntled fan base, a manager struggling and making counterproductive comments, a chairman considering removing said manager and a disheartened appearing squad. Leicester prevailing this weekend feels severely unlikely. But you never know – this is football!
