Things to know about Leicester transfer target Riccardo Sottil
Despite only one signing in the summer, Leicester City are reportedly interested in Fiorentina winger Riccardo Sottil.
The Foxes are on a horrific run presently where they are at the bottom of the table. They have lost six in a row and have attained only a single point in their past seven matches. Some supporters are already fearing relegation and henceforth it is right to say that the vibes around the club are very negative at the moment.
Multiple questions are already raised upon whether Brendan Rodgers should have been sacked or not. Although will reportedly remain in charge for the game against Nottingham Forest.
About Leicester City’s interest
The club are said to be preparing for the upcoming transfer window in January where several Italian outlets have reported an interest in Fiorentina winger Riccardo Sottil. The 2015/16 PL winning side is obviously very short in the attacking region.
Due to no signings this summer and inability to sign Ademola Lookman, the club has no proper right winger in the team currently. However, the 23-year-old is more comfortable playing on the left side rather than the right yet it is obvious that he would not be replacing Harvey Barnes.
Valuation and views of current manager
Leicester City are not alone in the race to sign him as Brighton & Hove Albion are also interested in the Italian. According to various sources the player is said to be valued around £8million. Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano previously said:
"“Sottil has huge potential, he is a young boy, he works well, many times he starts from the beginning he makes great games. Against Cagliari he entered and solved the game then it is not easy to always turn on and try to enter 100% during the race. Riccardo has qualities as an important footballer who sooner or later will explode in a concrete and definitive way, you know what I think, the alternation of the outsiders is fundamental for me, he has enormous qualities as a player of the highest level.”Leicester Mercury"
Looking at the player’s strengths and weaknesses, tactically the Viola man dribbles successfully in tight areas and holds onto the ball during pressure situations. But because he is still a raw talent he is still low on discipline and is weak when it comes to crossing the ball. Even his defensive contribution is an issue and that can be a major problem if the current manager stays because he likes his winger to contribute in the defensive aspect of the team.
