Leicester City head coach Brendan Rodgers has commented on what the January transfer window might look like. Here is what he has said about the prospects.

13 games played, 11 points gained, 18th in the Premier League. The King Power club remain low due to their early season poor form, and will be looking towards the January transfer window to improve their league standing. This includes the gaffer.

It is already known that the Foxes have been interested in a new goalkeeper, a new midfielder, and a right-winger. We could also expect the futures of Youri Tielemans and Caglar Soyuncu to be brought into question. A new defender might also be on the cards.

What Leicester City manager said about the new year

During his pre-match press conference for the Manchester City defeat, the Northern Irishman was asked regarding the plans of the club for potential signings.

"“I’ve got a meeting today with the recruitment team looking at plans for January… It’s an ongoing process. Hopefully we can do some business in January”"

Martyn Glover and Rodgers are going to be in constant discussions up until the window. Obviously, the boss wants to see some business done to refresh the squad an amount, as well as bring in some energy. A plan is being built behind the scenes.

"“We needed a number of players and you can see the impact one player [Wout Faes] has made to our team, and I felt if we had another four of those that could come into the team… that would help us. We couldn’t get them in the summer”"

It is known the financial situation at the East Midlands side is most perplexing. Seemingly constrained by financial fair play regulations due to losses endured over a three-year period. How things could have been different were the Foxes still in Europe or did not crash out of the UEFA Europa League… Twice.

Clearly in the summer it was not possible to sign players: not enough were sold, and not enough was planned ahead in the absence of Glover. This window might be different. Rodgers specifically mentions four more. That would line-up with the names we have already heard plus one additional – a defender.
