Wout Faes has had a ‘Virgil Van Dijk’ effect on the team

Now I am not saying that Faes is of the same level of a man who finished second in the Ballon D’or behind Lionel Messi back in 2019. But I am merely comparing the effect that he has had on a back four who looked destined to send the East Midlands side into a gruelling relegation battle for much of the season. Even players such as Amartey, a player who despite his ability to play some very effective progressive passes, is extremely error prone both defensively and on the ball. Faes has been so exceptional that he covers for the majority of those mistakes.

He has instilled so much confidence in the squad that everyone else is performing to elite levels organisationally and with their levels of defensive intensity. This also shows in the quality of chances other teams are creating being reduced quite significantly. Of course it is still early days into the Belgians tenure with the club, but it’s very safe to say that he is a huge factor in the Foxes’ uptake in form and results. Do you agree with FoL’s comments?
