West Ham vs Leicester: predicted Foxes XI
Ahead of the final Premier League match before the 2022 World Cup starts, Foxes of Leicester predict the Leicester City XI to face West Ham United.
If you read my thoughts often, or around the time of international friendlies or the Nations League, you’ll know I’m not a fan of those two competitions. The EPL is so amazing and engrossing that sometimes breaks from domestic football are unbearable. The World Cup is a better time filler – an understatement of the century!
Prior to the English top-flight interval, the Foxes play West Ham in their last game until late December. Following Brendan Rodgers‘ updates from his pre-match press conference, our predicted lineup is below:
Danny Ward; Luke Thomas, Jonny Evans, Wout Faes, Timothy Castagne; Wilfred Ndidi, Youri Tielemans; Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall; Harvey Barnes, James Maddison; Patson Daka.
I know many supporters will be surprised that I have omitted Boubakary Soumare whilst second-guessing Rodgers. Well, when fit, I just feel that Ndidi brings more to the table in spite of Soumare’s better work moving the ball. The boss sees them both in training and will have noted the latter’s improvement, no doubt. Yet the Nigerian has been Leicester’s linchpin for a few years now.
Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers on West Ham United team
During the presser, the media enquired about the Hammers to the Northern Irishman. Rodgers was, as every manager always is when talking of other clubs, complimentary regarding WHUFC. The ex-Liverpool gaffer says the Londoners have a good team which possesses a lot of quality.
However, Rodgers is expressing more fighting talk these days, as he suggested that his team will be as equally aggressive as they were in the respective Wolverhampton Wanderers and Everton victories. The 49-year-old revealed an attacking strategy for away trips, as well as believing that his side are becoming harder to beat.
It is now time for FoL to make some further predictions. First of all, I expect the encounter to be fairly Well-matched, the two XIs are similar in quality. Backing the aforementioned factor conveniently, both have played 14, won four, drawn two and lost eight in the division this season. David Moyes’ men sit one place below the east Midlanders on a matching 14 points. Leicester score more and their opponents concede less, overall. I envision a slim margin of victory for LCFC.
