Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed information about new Foxes set-piece coach Lars Knudsen. These details shed light on the latter’s LCFC team impact following the club having the worst record in the Premier League for conceding corners.

That’s right, the east Midlands side were leading the way on charts you want to be nowhere near! Rodgers was ultimately blamed for poor defending, whilst defenders deserved flack for a lack of desire and efficiency, too.

Essentially the Northern Irishman appeared stubborn on a few occasions: before trying to mildly alter the style he could have quite easily radically changed the hybrid zone approach. Let me put it in simple terms – Leicester were awful at clearing and dealing with aerial balls into the box. It really isn’t rocket science. But, as is the way these days, the boss requested a new member for his staff, Lars Knudsen, the Danish set-piece specialist.

LCFC wanted their man ready two months prior, yet Knudsen arrived at the end of the summer and got to work straight away as the EPL had already begun. The Foxes were still fragile at the back, though the man with the distinction of helping the USA national team got to grips with free-kicks and the like did have an almost immediate impact. The opposition were targeting Rodgers’ men in this fashion, but the goals soon dried up.

When asked about the influence of Knudsen on his defence, the former Liverpool manager said this:

"“In terms of set-pieces, Lars has made a great impact. We’ve looked strong and solid and aggressive. That was the improvement we needed to make. That’s important. His work has been excellent. The defensive work within the structure of the team, it’s analysing the details around it. A number of our goals were about transition, and we’ve been able to close the pitch. The players feels more comfortable”.Leicestershire Live"
