The English left-back was brought in as a stop gap after injuries and the loss of Ben Chilwell some time ago now. It has been almost a year since the defender signed for the club. I would have a guess that we shall not see him play ever again: injured, not as good as Luke Thomas, and a fullback to be signed in the winter.

It might even transpire that in absence of recovery, the former Chelsea man may well be absorbed into football obscurity. Either a move to a lower league side for a season or retirement could be on the table. Rodgers will not be wanting to keep Bertrand around.

The Turkish centre-back was once lauded as one of the best. Personally, I still rate the defender, but I do recognise he was the only senior player left standing during a rough spell last season, and ‘Cags’ did fail to show leadership and composure. Mistakes and a failed partnership with Amartey ended his time in the sun.

I believe the Foxes will look to offload the player this January if they can bring someone in to replace the former star. Otherwise, there will be no extension and the player will leave on a free at the end of the season. What a depressing end to a good career at the club.

Jonny Evans will be going nowhere. Despite his age, the defender is the captain of the side under Rodgers and offers leadership, composure, and a strong voice. This being said, the advent of the Wout Faes-Amartey partnership might limit the game time the captain gets.
