Leicester City inquire about Netherlands World Cup player
Leicester City have reportedly made a transfer inquiry about Netherlands World Cup squad player Stefan de Vrij. And Foxes of Leicester discuss updates on the possible respective futures of James Maddison and Youri Tielemans.
While de Vrij didn’t play for his country at the illustrious tournament, he is a valued member of the Dutch roster. Louis van Gaal chose his favoured centreback trio, and unfortunately it didnt include the Inter Milan CB; the high profile Matthijs de Ligt was also ignored.
In addition to his appreciated status, de Vrij is a rated defender in general. Stylistically, he is what we call ‘no-nonsense’ in England: allowing attackers to pass is not an option. Passing is a key attribute of the athlete.
Leicester have supposedly asked agent Federico Pastorello about the current status of the Inter Milan centrehalf. Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid are also interested in acquiring the ex-Feyenoord player. Incidentally, the Nerazzurri are said to be after Caglar Soyuncu.
The 30-year-old has won almost all there is to win in Italy: he’s a Serie A champion, an Italian Cup winner, and has won the nation’s Super Cup with two sides: Inter and Lazio. He would undoubtedly be a particularly good signing for LCFC, but sadly it is particularly unlikely because he will probably go to a so-called bigger club.
Leicester City reporter on James Maddison and Youri Tielemans careers
Trustworthy LCFC journalist Jordan Blackwell conducted a Foxes Question and Answer session very recently. One of the subjects centered on whether or not Tielemans will join Arsenal in January, and if Maddison will be sold to Newcastle this New Year. As usual, Blackwell gave detailed and knowledgeable responses.
First of all the Belgian international, who was unceremoniously eliminated from the World Cup Group Stage with his country, is not expected to leave Leicester during the next month. Tielemans’ deal expires at the end of the present season. However, manager Brendan Rodgers does not want to lose the athlete midway through the campaign; the former has been informed of this stance.
With respect to the England midfielder, the reporter was even more adamant that he shall not depart Filbert Way as we enter 2023. Blackwell declares it unlikely for the east Midlands outfit to sanction a switch in Jan’, partly due to ‘Madders’ being Rodgers’ best performer at the moment. If Leicester are serious about re-entering European competition then retaining Maddison feels paramount.
