On the opposite wing, Dennis Praet has already been confirmed as out of contention due to his early injury against Newcastle. The Belgian looked to have either bruised or broken his ribs and will be a doubt for the Fulham game. The man he replaced in the starting lineup, James Maddison, has been to London to see a specialist for his latest knee injury.

No timescale has been given for Maddison’s recovery, but it’s unlikely he’ll be involved in any of Leicester’s early January games. Given his fine form of late, he’ll be a huge miss for the Foxes.

With those two injured, the responsibility falls upon Ayoze Perez to fill in on the wing. Credit to him, he looked a good option on Monday, one of Leicester’s few good players on the pitch. His hard pressing will be a very valuable tool under the Friday night lights.

Up front, there is clearly only one player best suited to the big games: Jamie Vardy. His record against the Reds, and the rest of the ‘big six’ is unrivalled in the squad. Patson Daka, whilst he has been good so far this season, should be moved to the bench for this game – if needs be his pace off the bench could be a real asset. Kelechi Iheanacho, meanwhile, could be an option as an attacking midfielder, though it’s unlikely Rodgers will start him.

Transfer news. LCFC have funds to sign 3 players in January. light
