During his pre-match press conference before taking on Liverpool, Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers updated Foxes fans on Wilfred Ndidi’s situation.

It’s been said before that Ndidi is a vital Fox. And that sentiment was accurate; lately the Nigeria international has been one of the forgotten players in the Leicester team. Well, at least amongst the typical starting XI, Ndidi is now an omission from LCFC manager Brendan Rodgers.

Although, Ndidi certainly has not been omitted from the hearts and minds of the Blue Army. We love him; yeah his shooting is often playground level and his passing leaves much to be desired comparatively to other elite midfielders. Buts that’s just it: Ndidi is high-end without having a fully rounded game.

The former Genk man’s tackling and intercepting is so effective that the drawbacks don’t matter quite as much to Leicester as they would at Manchester City or Liverpool. Maybe his level is LCFC, and I say that as a fan of Ndidi and Leicester City Football Club.

In recent times, Boubakary Soumare has taken the former’s spot in the lineup. And the Frenchman seemed to consolidate the solo central defensive role as his own. Yet a poor performance, as with everyone in the Newcastle United match, means a chance for Ndidi might perhaps arise in the Reds clash.

In addition to that, Rodgers has made it clear that he hasn’t disregarded the 26-year-old:

"“Yes… he [Ndidi] will [return to the starting XI], we have got a really busy schedule in January and I think for a while I have had a good sit down with him and a really honest conversation and he knows what have been in terms of the levels we want him to be and he has struggled with a number of injuries”“So it is just the case of sometimes coming away from the team and working on the training field and just reset everything and I can see in training he has come with a lot of freshness back in his game, so there is no doubt in the coming weeks he will be ready to start.”"

Six Liverpool stars unavailable for Leicester City fixture

The Leicester squad will currently be resting and preparing for their Premier League clash with Liverpool on Friday evening. Taking on the Reds at Anfield is a formidable task for most if not all teams, yet the Foxes have nothing to lose so should attempt to play Jurgen Kopp’s side at their own pressing game. Along with needing to utilise the rapid counterattack.

There is a boost for the King Power outfit ahead of the game because six Liverpool players remain sidelined. Klopp will be without Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Arthur Melo, Curtis Jones and James Milner. However, the great depth of the Merseyside team means that those absences may not affect proceedings too much.
