Ahead of Gillingham and Leicester City’s FA Cup Third Round tie, Foxes of Leicester comprehensively guess Brendan Rodgers’ starting lineup.

Injuries are once again having a debilitating affect on the Leicester team. Obviously the squad is in drastic need of updating to keep pace, though one or two performances were actually uneven just prior to the fitness issues piling up.

However, the east Midlands side went on a great run directly before the World Cup, proving some of us wrong about its depth and showing that manager Rodgers still had something insightful to offer. In addition to that, the Northern Irishman showed that he could still motivate the LCFC players, amid the usual silly shouts of ‘downing tools’ and the like.

Around a year or so ago, the Foxes were in another slump mainly caused from unavailable personnel. Unfortunately, a very similar state of affairs is now unfolding on Filbert Way. With nine players out, rekindling and maintaining form is going to be very difficult. Yet a trip to Gillingham in the FA Cup this Saturday offers a chance for Rodgers and his men to redeem themselves and return to winning ways.

Although, predicting the assets that the former Celtic boss shall deploy becomes increasingly difficult at the present time. Will we see any Leicester City Academy graduates start the game? We are possibly not quite at that point, in spite of the opposition currently being in the lowly spot of 24th in Football League Two.

A few veterans and backups remain, including people such as Marc Albrighton, so you can expect to see him potentially take one of the places available. Ironically, I write this on the day that Christian Fuchs retires – he’d be handy at the moment.

Sidelined Foxes include: James Justin, Ryan Bertrand, James Maddison, Patson Daka, Dennis Praet, Ricardo Pereira, Jonny Evans, Boubakary Soumare and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall. A fairly strong setup is arguably necessary to play well; hopefully we’ll see the younger stars come on at some point. FoL’s probable cup starting lineup is below:
