Leicester City are through to the fourth round of this season’s FA Cup after a routine victory over Gillingham at the Priestfield Stadium. Kelechi Iheanacho’s second half strike was enough to put the Foxes into the hat, with the League Two side unable to respond.

Brendan Rodgers will be pleased that his side have navigated the first of two cup ties this week, with his side heading north to face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday. Here at Foxes of Leicester, we decided to run you through our player ratings for this lunchtime’s City victory.

Daniel Iversen – 7

While the Danish goalkeeper has little experience playing for Leicester City, the level of opposition today was comfortably above what he has been used to in the last few years. Gillingham tested the City stopper three times with shots on target, with Iversen doing well to deny Shaun Williams’ header towards the end of the first half.

Had that attempt not been denied, who knows how the scoreline could have been different – with the Gills taking confidence from what would’ve been a rare goal in this campaign. This was the only effort for Iversen to deter from inside his penalty area, with efforts from Hakeeb Adelakun and Dom Jefferies from further out also requiring his attention.

Still, a goalkeeper can only stop the shots that are given to him, and this performance proved that City’s No. 2 is competent to be called upon when required. Of course, Danny Ward is expected to return in the net for the Nottingham Forest fixture, but his deputy could well be considered for Tuesday’s trip to St James’ Park in the Carabao Cup.
