It was an ugly performance for Leicester City against Newcastle. The Magpies defeated LCFC 2-0, knocking the Foxes out of the Carabao Cup. The attack was nonexistent and we spent the whole game defending on our heels. The rest of January will be crucial for Brendan Rodgers and his squad. Changes need to be made before we’re stuck in a relegation battle.

Like almost every game this season, Leicester went with Danny Ward in between the sticks. Luke Thomas and Timothy Castagne were the starting fullbacks while Wout Faes and Daniel Amartey were the centre-back pairings. The midfield consisted of Ayoze Perez, Wilfred Ndidi and Youri Tielemans. Harvey Barnes was out on the left wing while Marc Albrighton was out wide on the right side, wearing the captain’s armband. Patson Daka was the sole striker up top.

Nick Pope started in goal for the Magpies. Dan Burn and captain Kieran Trippier were out wide at full-back. Eddie Howe decided to go with a centre-back pairing of Sven Botman and Fabian Schar. Their midfield consisted of Joe Willock, Bruno Guimaraes and Sean Longstaff. The lethal duo of Miguel Almiron and Joelinton were out wide as wingers as Callum Wilson was the lone striker up top.
