Leicester City were knocked out of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night after losing 2-0 to Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

The two sides played each other less than two weeks prior, in the Premier League, with Newcastle taking all three points after three first-half goals.

Newcastle could’ve been two or 3-0 up before half-time after having some clinical chances in front of goal but weren’t able to put them away. Leicester also had a couple of chances that went wide. The Foxes managed to hold onto a 0-0 draw by half-time.

Newcastle started the second-half as they meant to go on as they pressurised Leicester’s defence, 15 minutes later came the Magpies’ first goal, scored by Dan Burn, with Newcastle’s second coming 12 minutes after.

The Leicester City defensive nightmare continues

The Foxes’ defending was particularly shocking as they allowed Newcastle into their half time and time again, in the first minute Sean Longstaff should’ve put the ball in Leicester’s net after Joe Willock’s cross and this only continued as time ticked on. This is something that all Leicester fans have unfortunately become too familiar with this season.
