Foxes of Leicester roundup the latest Leicester City injury news from Brendan Rodgers’ pre-match press conference, including an update on playmaker James Maddison. FoL consequently select a predicted Foxes lineup for the Nottingham Forest match in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Leicester return to English top-flight action following defeat to Newcastle United in the League Cup quarterfinals, but only after a win over Gillingham in the FA Cup Third Round. However, the form guide from the previous three EPL outings is bad. The Foxes lost every one of those games: to the Magpies, Liverpool, as well as Fulham. The latter loss was the most concerning, naturally.

A heavy defeat at Forest would mean pressure piling back onto Rodgers’ shoulders. And the Northern Irishman couldn’t face a much more testing environment up and down the country as the King Power club enter the footballing cauldron that is the City Ground.

So are there any boosts for LCFC prior to the encounter with their Midlands rivals? Not really. Ayoze Perez is a doubt and Dennis Praet’s fitness must be assessed. Meanwhile there is ‘no timescale’ for Maddison’s comeback; Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall remains unavailable.

Predicted Leicester City XI for the Nottingham Forest clash

Some fans have recently called for the three-centreback system to return, understandably. While I am not averse to using a 3-4-3 – likely a more defensively styled 5-2-3 under Rodgers – I’m not sure the boss will revert to that formation because of how it may possibly be misinterpreted. Some would label a using ‘three at the back’ as overly cautious, especially whilst playing a derby game.

Having 3-CBs would alleviate the strain Luke Thomas is under at present due to his defensive struggles. Yet, is there even a left wingback available aside from Kasey McAteer? Considering what I just wrote and believe, Foxes of Leicester expect the Northern Irishman to deploy another 4-3-2-1 of sorts. Directly underneath the link below, you can find the lineup Rodgers might perhaps choose. The group is presented from left-to-right:
