How new signing Tetê will improve the Leicester team

Leicester City have signed 22-year-old right winger Mateus Tetê – how will he improve the Foxes team? Alice Wright takes a look.
Tetê, who was on loan at Olympique Lyon from Ukrainian Premier League club Shakhtar Donetsk, signed a loan deal until the end of the season. An official announcement came on Sunday, as first reported by Fabrizio Romano.
Who is new Leicester City signing Tetê?
Tetê shall be the first Brazilian player to sign for City, and will most likely play on the right wing. This was a priority position for Brendan Rodgers to fill. Although the former hasn’t broken through into Brazil’s first team, he does have two caps for Brazil’s Under-23 side.
The Foxes loanee is a left-footed wideman, who prefers to play on the right and is known for having quick feet and providing nifty tricks to help him get past defenders. While also being a regular in Lyon’s starting XI in Ligue 1 during this campaign, he has previously been compared to former Chelsea and the Netherlands winger Arjen Robben.
The comparison arose because of Tetê’s ability to cut inside onto his stronger left foot. He has scored six goals and assisted three times in 17 appearances for Les Gones in Ligue 1. In addition, he also assisted a further two goals in the Coupe de France, a similar competition to the FA Cup.
What qualities does he bring to the team?
The Brazilian will add more width to the team by playing on the right wing, which is a position that City has struggled to adapt since you know who departed King Power Stadium. Rodgers has regularly opted to field Leicester City’s starman, James Maddison, on the wing.
This role switch will allow ‘Madders’ to move into central attacking midfield, his more favoured position. In turn, this allows LCFC to start being more dynamic with their play.
Tetê’s inclusion in the Leicester side could also see an improvement going forward, with his quick feet helping to provide for kelechi Iheanacho and Patson Daka whilst Jamie Vardy recovers. The wingman could make his debut against Aston Villa in next weekend’s Premier League tie at Villa Park; a home debut could come a week later against Tottenham Hotspur.
