Leicester make no progress whatsoever in contract talks with star
Leicester City have reportedly made no progress whatsoever in their contract negotiations with star player James Maddison. Foxes of Leicester also attempt to explain, with the help of an article, why the Foxes didn’t complete Caglar Soyuncu’s transfer away from King Power Stadium.
According to Leicester Mercury reporter Jordan Blackwell, the east Midlands team haven’t yet succeeded in making any significant headway at all with respect to Maddison signing a new contract at Leicester. This update will not sit well with the playmaker’s adoring Blue Army fans.
However, the LCFC supporters are kind of resigned to the strong possibility that Maddison won’t ever actually sign a fresh agreement with the Leicestershire outfit. There have been numerous clubs linked to the England National Team representative for quite a while.
Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are supposedly interested parties, and who could blame them? Newcastle United are most often connected with fancying a move for the former Norwich City man. What Blackwell said on the matter is below:
"“As far as I’m aware, there has been no progress towards a new deal [for Maddison] as of yet. That means that even if City want to keep him, they may feel that losing him for nothing the following year would not be the best way forward given how valuable he would be even if he only had a year left on his contract.”"
Why Leicester City didn’t complete Caglar Soyuncu’s transfer
As the transfer market closed for another few months, there were some slight surprises because some Foxes who were expected to leave, didn’t. And it wasn’t only exits that didn’t transpire, one prospective incoming never materialised, either. Jack Harrison of Leeds United was wanted on Filbert Way, although the Yorkshire side pulled the plug at the eleventh hour.
One of the men that could and possibly should have left King Power Stadium was Caglar Soyuncu. Soyuncu is not in Brendan Rodgers’ plans and might perhaps have gone for some cash with his existing deal rapidly expiring. Yet the Turkey international did not join Atletico Madrid as reports suggested may occur. This was mainly due to Financial Fair Play reasons, as outlined in this article.
Incidentally, Soyuncu is going through a very tough time at the moment following the earthquake which hit his home country, as well as neighbouring Syria. In the meantime, Soyuncu appears to be personally doing as much as possible to help the cause and raise awareness. Good luck to him.
