Buoyed by back-to-back wins, Leicester City face a tough trip to high-flying Manchester United in their next Premier League match. With both teams in good form, it promises to be an exciting encounter with many Foxes fans seeing this as a free hit. Whilst Leicester City will be full of confidence after recent performances, they will certainly enter this game as underdogs, with Manchester United third in the table and also only being defeated once since the World Cup.

Team news for both teams

Leicester City have been boosted by the return of key players with Ricardo Pereira coming on last match for his first appearance of the season. Furthermore, Brendan Rodgers confirmed in his press conference that both Youri Tielemans and Boubakary Soumare are available for selection, providing a selection dilemma for the Northern Irishman. On the absentee front, LCFC are still missing Jonny Evans, Ryan Bertrand and James Justin. Considering how extensive the list was just weeks ago, it makes for much better reading now.

On the other side, the Manchester United absentee list will provide further hope for Foxes fans. Pivotal enforcer Casemiro will be absent as he serves the last of his three-match suspension. Furthermore, the following players are unlikely to be available against Leicester: Donny van de Beek; Christian Eriksen; Anthony Martial. Scott McTominay and Anthony are also further fitness doubts for Erik Ten Hag’s men.

Predicted Leicester City XI

With success achieved with a 4-3-3 formation, it is unlikely that Brendan Rodgers will deviate from this tried-and-tested approach. Therefore this is what the Foxes will likely line up with against the Red Devils, with the midfield position being the only real area of contention.

With the quality in the United midfield, Rodgers may well opt for the energy of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall over the technical attributes of Youri Tielemans, especially to facilitate an aggressive press out of possession. Since Man Utd have been playing twice a week, this match represents a chance for Rodgers to aim to take advantage of any fatigue in the opposition squad.

Furthermore, whilst Nampalys Mendy put in one of his best-ever displays in Leicester blue last time out, he may be the unfortunate player to make way if Rodgers prefers a more progressive and physical midfielder in the form of Boubakary Soumare.
