Leicester transfer talk: Dumfries and de Vrij of Inter Milan
Foxes of Leicester discuss the latest interesting Leicester City transfer talk. Denzel Dumfries and Stefan de Vrij of Inter Milan are on the agenda.
Let’s get straight to it. What’s new in the LCFC sphere at present? Well, Leicester play Arsenal on Saturday afternoon; results went from one extreme to the other versus Tottenham Hotspur and subsequently Manchester United.
And, despite one transfer window only recently shutting, there are brand new rumours. What is the contemporary speculation?
Leicester City transfer talk as Foxes linked with Denzel Dumfries and Stefan de Vrij of Inter Milan
Yeah, I was as surprised as you to see the east Midlands team connected with a serious interest in an Internazionale pair. Whilst de Vrij is slightly more believable, the Dumfries link is almost on the side of unbelievable, for me.
I presumed Dumfries would have signed for a major mainland European team by now, like Barcelona or one of the big six Premier League clubs. That is not to say that nter is insignificant. Granted, the fact that he hasn’t switched means those types of significant names aren’t yet vying for the rightback’s signature. He would’ve likely already gone in that scenario.
But the 26-year-old’s profile is still high enough that I assume superclubs retain respective interests. You never know. However, what these indecisive moments and alternative targets being pursued does, is give smaller sides like the Foxes opportunities to strike.
The touted potential transfer for Dumfries is actually surprising, even shocking, for one other reason: the apparent inclusion of Timothy Castagne in a swap deal. The former is said to be valued at £35million, with the King Power outfit reportedly ready to offer cash plus Castagne.
The Belgian has played in Serie A before, but there is no suggestion that he wants out of Leicestershire. The Netherlands international is also wanted by Manchester United and Chelsea. The Italians would prefer a cash only agreement.
Regarding de Vrij, he’ll be out of contract at the end of the season. He has been offered an extension by Inter, to no avail. Atletico Madrid, Newcastle United, Nice, Sevilla and City have enquired about the centreback. There is talk he could replace the outgoing Caglar Soyuncu on Filbert Way. This is certainly one to watch.
