Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers was recently asked if the Foxes’ weekend opponents, Arsenal, will ultimately lift the 2022/23 Premier League trophy.

Arsenal have probably been the most entertaining or, dare I say it, the most likeable team during this Premier League campaign. I know! Maybe this is something to do with Amazon’s groundbreaking All or Nothing show featuring the Gunners. Yeah, Mikel Arteta can be annoying on the touchline, especially if he’s up to his childish antics against your side. Although, that sidelined passion is pure determination and commitment to winning – and I do praise as well as admire that.

As AFC are playing Leicester at the weekend – who would have guessed this encounter would be selected as a 3pm Saturday blackout game?! – Rodgers was speaking about the North London outfit atop the EPL. Whilst his question and answer session unravelled, it was put to the Northern Irishman whether or not he expected Arteta to lead them to English top-flight glory. If you were expecting a straightforward and definite response, you don’t know the LCFC gaffer well. Rodgers said it is too early to tell with 15 matches remaining. He said ‘they’ll certainly compete’; with five fixtures to go it’ll be ‘clearer’, he says.

Leicester City favourite Ricardo Pereira talks positive mindset, outlook and disposition during latest recovery period

As the subheading clearly alludes, Ricardo is well-liked by the Blue Army. He was definitely one of the players I admired most in the group a few years ago. Wow, typing that gave me the realisation of just how long it’s been without a flying, potent Portuguese in the lineup. Ages!

Now Ricardo is fit and ready to chase down a starting place; I presume this means Timothy Castagne must be show his best form. Competition is brilliant for the east Midlands squad – so don’t worry about either of them! It’s just great to have the (very) attacking fullback available.

In the meantime, Ricardo has given an interview to BBC Sport about his time recovering. In that spell, the Portugal international claims smiling helped. In addition, the defender admits that he didn’t want to feel down as he did during his last major injury.
