Despite talk that Leicester City could part ways with striker Patson Daka this month, it looks like the Zambian forward has a short-term future at the King Power Stadium at least. There had been links with Galatasaray with the Turkish transfer window extending well into late February, but it appears any concrete move has failed to materialise with the transfer period closing today.

Inevitably, such conversations will die down while there’s no opportunity for players to move elsewhere, but in Daka’s case this might only be merely for a few months. The City No. 20 has fallen out of favour in recent weeks, having been arguably the preferred choice to lead the line in the early parts of this season. The Zambian was keeping Foxes legend Jamie Vardy out of the side, but with new arrivals meaning a change in tactical tack, he now finds himself third choice behind both Vardy and Kelechi Iheanacho.

At the start of the 2021/22 season, there was huge optimism among the City supporters that their side could kick on following two fifth-placed finishes, and the investment in a promising, albeit very raw Patson Daka was a part of that. The striker has excelled in the Austrian league with RB Salzburg, with many citing his explosive pace and ability to finish as exciting after watching his highlights reels.
