The expectation is of another tough test. Rovers are playing well in the Championship and have some good technical and pacy players who could offer a severe challenge if a weak team were to be picked. Leicester City will need to be aggressive, positive, and control the ball.

Predicted XI

There will need to be some changes to the starting XI with important league fixtures coming thick and fast in the near future. However, one position which is simply not going to change is goalkeeper: Danny Ward is our No. 1 and will start the fixture.

I would expect a back four, with Luke Thomas, Caglar Soyuncu, Daniel Amartey, and Ricardo Pereira. Either this or Harry Souttar would come in for ‘Cags’ as Rodgers does not seem to trust the Turkish international defender. The epic Viktor Kristiansen needs a break and Wout Faes has played a lot of games recently. Jannie Vestergaard may be on the bench but stands no chance of playing.

A feel a diamond in midfield with a front two may be the formation: simply to rest other players. Were this to happen, Wilfred Ndidi, Boubakary Soumare, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and James Maddison should form the midfield four.
