Jonny Evans and Wilfred Ndidi return

A major boost ahead of the weekend, Rodgers confirmed that Jonny Evans is set to return to the matchday squad on Saturday. The club captain has been absent with injury ever since he injured his calf in a mid-season friendly during the World Cup, last playing against Newport in November.

His leadership has been sorely missed throughout a terrible run of form post-World Cup. Whether he starts, or is brought on as a sub, fans will be hoping that his impact is sizeable. If Rodgers switches to a back three, Evans could be the one to come in and shut-up shop either side of Souttar and Faes.

Another one who could be in line for a return is Wilfred Ndidi. The Nigerian had slipped down the pecking order due to the form of Papy Mendy and Boubakary Soumare. Whilst he was named as captain against Arsenal, it was only his first start since the 14th of January due to his form and fitness.

Now, with Soumare not yet trusted after his dismal display against Blackburn, and with Tielemans out injured, there is a chance that Ndidi could return to the starting XI on Saturday. When the midfielder is on his game, he is an exceptionally destructive presence and can single-handily see out games. Chelsea are also one of his favourite teams to play against, having scored twice against them since signing. His selection could be a deciding factor.
