Why Souttar and Mendy were dropped for last Leicester match
Why Harry Souttar and Papy Mendy were dropped for previous Leicester City match versus Bournemouth. And whether or not Dean Smith is likely to reinstate the pair for his initial Foxes game.
Many Leicester fans, such as myself, were surprised to see Smith take control on Filbert Way. I am unsure that he is qualified for the task ahead, having been relegated when previously attempting it. He is also staunchly loyal to LCFC’s Midlands rivals Aston Villa as a fan and former Villans manager. Nevertheless, I am willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Don’t get me started on John Terry’s character. Although, I will hero worship the pair of them if they achieve an escape! Craig Shakespeare is an obvious choice for Leicester.
The Leicestershire side must now focus purely on results as opposed to having a politician in charge who is mainly concerned with impression given and his own career. I don’t want to criticise Brendan Rodgers more than I have previously. I have also praised the Northern Irishman on many occasions. Yet the Blue Army is hoping for increased ruthlessness now that Rodgers has gone. Defenders dabbling in the dark arts is a necessary feature we hope Terry can instil in the team. There is a place for jousting, histrionics and affectation when preserving vital Premier League status.
Why Harry Souttar and Papy Mendy were dropped for last Leicester City match
Two players who seemed important to Leicester’s strive to remain in the English top-flight were Souttar and Mendy. Souttar is a natural choice to lead the Foxes at present; the Senegalese is a more recent wildcard in the importance rankings.
So, why did Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell decide to omit the duo from the starting lineup for the Bournemouth clash? Apparently the Australian was rested for the game. While Mendy seems to have been replaced by Boubakary Soumare for ‘freshness’ reasons.
