Leicester’s preseason dates with 3 fixtures already scheduled
Before their run in the Championship, Leicester City will get some pitch time in pre season. Three games have been announced for July and they will all provide the new Leicester team with different challenges.
The foxes’ first contest will be on Saturday 15 July versus Northampton town. That game will be played at Sixfields stadium. Unlike the East Midlands team, Northampton had a successful season. After finishing third in League Two, they were able to earn promotion to League One. Leicester will be going against a team looking to gel before they prepare for survival in the third tier of English football.
After that matchup, Leicester will travel to Singapore for two matchups against Premier League clubs. The first matchup will be against Tottenham Hotspur on July 23rd. Spurs had a very underwhelming season for their standards. After falling to eighth on the last day of the season, they will be without European football. With former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou now in charge, they will look to get back to winning momentum. They’ve recently made an insulting bid regarding James Maddison and Harvey Barnes
Then to end the two game stint in Singapore, LCFC will go up against Liverpool on July 30. The reds also had an underwhelming season for their standards. They finished in 5th place and will now be playing in the Europa League rather than the Champions League. Liverpool has already started their rebuild to the UCL as they signed Brighton attacking midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.
These three games will give Leicester a great challenge before heading into a season in the second tier. Not only will they get playing time to help the new players gel together, they will get playing time against good competition. Both Liverpool and Spurs finished in the top half of the EPL. Along with that, the Cobblers is a team currently on good strides as they’ve just earned promotion. These three games can say a lot on how the foxes of King Power will start off their new campaign in the second division.
