Huge club negotiating with Leicester for star Foxes defender
A massive club is reportedly negotiating with Leicester City for a star Foxes defender as a valuation is revealed. Will Belgium international Timothy Castagne leave the King Power side for a top European club? And has he justified the interest?
This week, Castagne was essentially quoted as saying that he wants a transfer to a new team and cannot wait long to do so. OK, I have no real problem with that; let’s hope we cash in as he’s clearly massively overrated due to playing on both sides of the pitch.
While Arsenal supposedly chase the fullback, another giant has swooped. Juventus are said to be in negotiations with LCFC over signing the €15million-valued player.
Leicester City centreback Jonny Evans receives some good news with recognition from King Charles
Foxes of Leicester would like to offer our congratulations to Evans on a particularly important day for the Northern Irishman. The former Manchester United man was awarded an MBE in the Birthday Honours List of King Charles III. The Fox was given the significant accolade following making 100 appearances for the Northern Ireland National Football Team.
Incidentally, whilst winning his 101st cap on Friday evening, Evans played and lost to ex-teammate and Denmark goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel. The centrehalf becomes a free agent when his contract with the east Midlands outfit expires on July 1. However, the 35-year-old’s desire is to continuing playing; discussions over an extension to his Leicester deal are described as ‘ongoing’.
FoL consider Evans a potentially important aspect of the squad for the upcoming Championship campaign. Similarly to Jamie Vardy – who competed in the second tier – he can provide knowhow and experienced. Retaining the former for lesser wages feels the right move. Although, I don’t imagine Evans as a starter anymore: Enzo Maresca is likely to go a different way in the starting XI as the ageing defender won’t be around forever. A new identity must be forged, yet having someone of the veteran’s understanding and quality on the substitute’s bench is vital.
