New Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca seems to be wasting no time with the summer Championship rebuild.

Numerous first-team players are already leaving the club, such as James Maddison. This was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano at around £40million. These sales will allow LCFC and Maresca to act quickly in building this new-look squad. The question is what players will be available to the East Midlands side, and will the former Manchester City assistant use his links with his previous club; like so many managers before him to bolster the side with some talented loanees.

The latter could very much be the case, it certainly is something that the new manager is considering. In an interview with the Telegraph Maresca said:

"“City really do have a lot of young players that I know very well, having worked with them at under-23 level and coached there this season. One or two of them would do us nicely!”"

Which youngsters from the recent treble winners should Leicester City be looking to try and sign on a temporary basis? The most notable name that sticks out is Cole Palmer, the 21-year-old made 14 appearances – 12 coming off the bench – for the first-team last season. Seemingly coming to a crossroads of needing more consistent game time, a move down to the Championship could serve the England under 21 talented midfielder very well. It could also be an excellent replacement – albeit most likely just temporary – for the outgoing Maddison.

The other player which would best suit the foxes needs, would be the Portuguese Carlos Borges. The left-sided forward managed 20 goals in 24 appearances in the Premier League 2, this could be an excellent piece of business in the quest to replace last year’s top goal scorer Harvey Barnes, someone who is unlikely to be there once the upcoming campaign begins.

Finding the successor’s of LCFC’s two most productive players will be the most key aspect of this transfer window and using two City loanees gives both the benefit of having already worked with Maresca, as well as being a cost effective means of replacing the outgoing stars.
