Two Leicester strikers wanted and may not play in the Championship
Players are rumored to leave Leicester City on what seems like a daily basis. James Maddison has left for Tottenham Hotspur, Youri Tielemans went to Aston Villa, and Çağlar Söyüncü has gone to Atletico Madrid. This doesn’t even include rumors such as Timothy Castagne to Juventus, Wilfred Ndidi to Celtic, and Harvey Barnes to any Premier League club you can imagine.
Despite all of the hearsay, there were two stars we expected to stay in the Championship and help the Foxes fight for promotion. To be more specific, the duo are strikers. The first attacker is the legendary Jamie Vardy. Despite recently appointed manager Enzo Maresca saying Vardy will stay on the team this season, he has been followed with multiple links. The first rumor to appear was Trabzonspor being interested. The Turkish club finished sixth in the Süper Lig with 57 points. Having a figure as polarizing as Vardy could have rejuvenated and ascended the club.
The 36-year-old has also received interest from Saudi Arabia. However, Vardy has already stated that he is not interested in that switch. There is simply no Leicester without Vardy. He has made 425 appearances for the club and has won the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Championship and represented the east Midlands side at European and international level. That experience is crucial for the outfit in a time like this.
Like the fabled No.9, Kelechi Iheanacho has also been linked with a move to the Turkish division. Powerhouse of the league Galatasaray are lining up a bid for the Nigerian centreforward. They were triumphant in the previous campaign following an 88 point haul. This club is filled with talented personnel such as Nicolò Zanilio, Victor Nelsson, and Lucas Torreira. They also have legends such as Juan Mata and Dries Mertens. Iheanacho would surely come into the squad and make a big impact.
Would the East Midlands team be able to recover without this pair? If they’re both sold, Patson Daka would be the only striker on the roster at the moment. Although, FoL expect ‘Vards’ to remain loyal.
