Foxes of Leicester discuss the club after 19 Leicester City players returned for preseason training at Seagrave. Meanwhile, a centreback makes a surprise early comeback.

City’s already promising yet unwanted and, in contemporary times, uncommon Championship campaign is getting closer. LCFC kick off the season in must-see style at home to Midlands rivals Coventry City. The King Power club will have to watch the Sky Blues who were undeniably very impressive last term. Nevertheless, Leicester are generally the bookmarks’ favourites to triumph in the second English tier and ascend back into the promised land of Premier League football. Training is underway at this point; a host of Foxes made it back.

Goalkeepers Daniel Iversen, Alex Smithies and Jakub Stolarczyk are at Seagrave testing their reflexes. While defenders Ricardo Pereira, James Justin, Harry Souttar, Jannik Vestergaard, Conor Coady – a new signing – Lewis Brunt, along with Ben Nelson were put through their paces. Midfielders Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, Hamza Choudhury, Boubakary Soumare, Dennis Praet and Harry Winks – another fresh face – were involved. Veteran Marc Albrighton, wantaway Harvey Barnes, the iconic Jamie Vardy and striker George Hirst made up the early group of 19. Barnes, Vestergaard and Praet are unlikely to be around for much longer with permanent transfers mooted. However, we’ve been saying that about the latter pair for what seems like years.

Harry Souttar is also at the Leicester City centre

Souttar was an apparent surprise participant in the sessions. That is because he is an international footballer and wasn’t due back for the initial day of practice. Nevertheless, the Australian did get to meet new colleagues and become reacquainted with teammates from the disastrous 2022/23 campaign.

Souttar was very recently competing in China, which makes arriving back prematurely even more surprising. He and the Aussies lost to Argentina 2-0; the 24-year-old played the full 90 minutes. The legendary Lionel Messi and defender German Pezzella got the goals.
