Leicester City fans will be delighted with the latest in the know report on ex-Manchester City coach Enzo Maresca‘s early influence as Foxes manager. The statement was made by a former Fox.

According to Matt Piper, Maresca has brought ‘excitement and passion’ to Leicester. He asserted that the man from Pontecagnano Faiano, Italy is embedding himself well at LCFC’s Seagrave training base. Importantly, Piper revealed that the latest Leicester boss is hands on, declining to allow coaches to solely conduct sessions.

The one-time Foxes man is optimistic about the appointment and pleased with Willy Caballero arriving as the assistant. Although, Piper’s appraisal not all good: he points out that transfer activity has been slow since two solid signings.

While we have positives in multiple areas such as a seeming commitment from the squad, a potentially very capable manager and absolutely palpable anticipation in spite of demotion in divisions, keeping spirits high is also a necessity. The coming campaign will be testing, even if the Foxes are eventually promoted in some capacity or another. Prospective Playoffs would be detrimental for the Blue Army’s collective blood pressure. Despite Maresca’s seriousness in planning for next season, he was able to provide levity in a significant first press conference as LCFC chief.

The Italian began his senior football career at West Bromwich Albion. Some may find that humorous to begin with, especially when they know that he went to Juventus directly after two terms with the Baggies. When Maresca was asked about playing for West Brom, he jokingly pinpointed how many years ago this was due to the now bald boss then having long hair. In addition to that, the two-time Citizens staff member added that his experience at WBA was ‘unbelievable’.
