Foxes of Leicester outline Leicester City’s first friendly of preseason 2023/24. The Foxes were defeated by Peterborough United.

Don’t take the initial headline or result to heart because Leicester, as well as their opponents, wanted to field every player in the behind-closed-doors game. Please don’t view the so-called loss as any indication for the coming campaign, either. And this was, of course, the maiden opportunity for new LCFC head coach Enzo Maresca to view or appraise the Roster during a ‘match setting’.

There is much optimism from fans at the moment over the Italian’s ascent at King Power Stadium. This is partially due to his repeated involvement with the rightfully lauded Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola. Encouragement grows in spite of a dreaded relegation becoming the harsh reality. The east Midlands outfit are obviously aiming for immediate automatic promotion back to the Premier League. If that fails, they will settle for a route to the English top-flight via the Championship Playoffs. On the subject, Maresca said that he is relaxed at present, and aims to rebuild a good squad. Then, he says, we will see what happens!
