Harry Souttar

I believe Harry Souttar has been mistreated throughout his time with the Foxes. The Australian defender was signed in the January transfer window for £17 million. He then played great when he first came into the squad. There was the implementation of a leader in the back. Souttar was winning aerial duals and his one on one opportunities. Then, when there was a reemergence of Çağlar Söyüncü, Souttar was banished to the bench.

I personally believe Souttar was playing better than Wout Faes at the time. However, with Leicester being relegated to the second tier of English football, I thought Souttar was going to get his opportunity to shine in the league he once was dominating in. Sadly I’m starting to believe that is not the case. The Foxes made their first signing of the summer when they signed 30-year-old Conor Coady from Wolverhampton United. Now they’re are rumors that Maresca is going to loan in Manchester City defender Callum Doyle.

There was already going to be competition for minutes between Souttar, Faes, and Jonny Evans. Now with Coady and Doyle in the mix, it is going to be challenging to find playing time for Souttar. He hasn’t deserved the decline in playing time yet that is what appears to be happening. I believe he deserves this opportunity vs Northampton to prove why he should regularly be selected in the starting eleven.
