Leicester target the most highly rated Man City starlet

Despite being relegated last season, Leicester City have seen a lot of success in the summer transfer window. The Foxes have signed midfielder Harry Winks and defender Conor Coady. They have also loaned in Manchester City defender Callum Doyle. And according to transfer rumors, the East Midlands team is looking to loan in more Manchester City youth players.

Cole Palmer is a 21-year-old Englishmen who can play as an attacking midfielder and as a winger. Since getting called up from the Man City youth academy, Palmer has made 38 appearances throughout all of their competitions. In those appearances, he has contributed four goals and two assists.

The stats don’t tell the full story for how talented and promising Palmer is. He made regular appearances in the England U21 squad that won the U21 European Championship. He contributed that game winning assist for England in the finals against Spain. If he were to join Leicester, the Foxes would have two European champions on the roster for the upcoming season.

Along with his successful summer, Palmer has received a lot of acclaim from the football industry. City midfielder Kalvin Phillips has recently stated that Palmer is the best youngster on their roster.

Newly appointed manager Enzo Maresca got a deep inside look with the Man City youngsters during his time as their assistant manager. So there is no surprise he is targeting players the quality of Palmer. However, this won’t be an easy move to pull off as Leicester is the only team targeting the youngster.

Burnley has recently been promoted to the English Premier League and they are looking to strengthen their squad. They’ve signed two defenders and a striker. A player like Palmer would be a fantastic addition to their squad. Brighton & Hove Albion may, however, be in talks with the footballer.

Leicester does have the stronger links than Burnley presently, as Palmer has trained a lot with Maresca and Luke Thomas. Is there a chance we see this caliber of a player join the Foxes in the second tier of English football next season?
