Amartey speaks, Leicester star priority transfer and new friendly arranged
Former minor Foxes cult hero Daniel Amartey has spoken after leaving Leicester City for a new team. While a star Fox is now an apparent priority transfer for his own onetime club. Meanwhile the east Midlands side have reportedly penciled in another exhibition contest.
Amartey has left LCFC on a free transfer and joined Besiktas. He finally thanked the Foxes faithful on social media after the dreadful relegation campaign. The Ghana international praised fans, describing his seven-year stint in Leicestershire as emotional. The club has a ‘special place’ in his heart, he continued, creating amazing memories, too. He wished Leicester well and suggested that he shall follow their progress.
Elsewhere, transfer talk. Just like with James Maddison and Harvey Barnes, I have previously said that I would be surprised to see Ricardo Pereira remain with the King Power side in the Championship. He’s still rated enough for top clubs to be attracted to him in spite of injury issues. It appears that OGC Nice desire Ricardo’s signature.
A new Leicester City friendly pencilled in but yet to be announced
The Leicester squad will soon be in Singapore expanding the LCFC brand and preparing for their upcoming non-competitive fixture against Liverpool of the Premier League. That feels weird to say now that we are not in the division, but I digress. Over the weekend, Leicester’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur in Bangkok, Thailand was cancelled due to horrendous weather. Along with the downpour came a waterlogged playing surface. Health was never going to be risked.
According to a Report, however, there could be another friendly in place prior to the Reds meeting. A behind-closed-doors game – yep, that probably means remote supporters of either club won’t be able to view it live or even access full highlights again! – versus Thai side Port FC is being spoken about for this Wednesday. Neither outfits’ support will attend the event as spectators, the article suggests. The game appears to concern fitness as apposed to spectacle.
