Leicester City new signing Conor Coady limped off with an injury during pre-season, and the possible injury could prevent a competitive debut.

Has the English centre-back been injured before? Yes, but has hardly missed a competitive match due to injury. After three weeks with the King Power club, Coady has already picked up an injury which may mean he misses the Coventry City EFL Championship opener.

Leicester City head coach responds

The curse continues from the Premier League into the Championship; some of the more superstitious members of the Blue Army are beginning to question their own fortune. Foxes boss Enzo Maresca has commented on the situation:

"“Unfortunately it is not good, we need to wait… They are scanning, we will see in the next few hours. He is one of our new players and has been involved with the process since day one”"

So, the English centre-back is injured probably for the rest of pre-season, and could possibly be a contentious choice for the Coventry City fixture. Coady has already shown himself to be the Jonny Evans replacement Leicester needed: composed, calm passing, and quality tackling. To lose the player for the duration of preseason is already annoying, as it hampers the integration of the player. That was what also harmed the chances of Jannie Vestergaard at City.

Enzo Maresca wants to use the new signing as the central defender, flanked by a couple other players and possibly Callum Doyle. The Italian head coach will be gutted to have lost a new signing to the curse of Leicester City. Either way, the hope is to have the CB back by the opening game, but he will miss the rest of preseason regardless.

Next. Medical set for Thursday for fifth Leicester City signing. dark

The Foxes do have a few other signings currently – particularly my favourite in Mads Hermansen – and luckily no further have received an injury. Although I may have just jinxed that. Otherwise, all other players are fully fit and engaging in preseason fixtures and training.
