Leicester City’s Enzo Maresca has warned the EFL Championship competitors that the Foxes want more signings. Here is the latest on the transfer market.

The King Power club have signed Conor Coady, Callum Doyle, Stephy Mavididi, Harry Winks, and Mads Hermansen. Five players in and the side already looks to have improved in physicality, progression, and possession domination. These are great starts, but they cannot be the end. After all, with the loss of Caglar Soyuncu, Youri Tielemans, Harvey Barnes, and James Maddison, a massive gulf of wages has opened. Leicester have money to spend, and wages to – more smartly, hopefully – outlay.

Enzo Maresca wants at least a few more acquisitions at Leicester City

The Italian head coach of Leicester City has been consistent in his approach towards the transfer market: firstly being coy regarding any incomings or outgoings, and secondly being upfront around how many he wants to see join the Foxes. During a recent press conference, Maresca commented on the transfer window in perhaps the clearest statement to date:

"“It depends how many players leave the club, but I would say we need three or four more players”"

We know the King Power club will look to replace any individual who is sold and add those three or four more on top. We also know that the current frontrunner to join is Cesare Casadei. The attacking midfielder has been strongly linked for some time.

Interestingly, Maresca also told the press conference that with the ten week injury to Coady – the worst in his career, and all because of Leicester’s curse at the moment – that the Foxes will look to bring in another centre-back. Now, this is despite having Harry Souttar available as a natural CB plus Victor Kristiansen who can perform at LCB if needed.

Therefore, out of the three minimum extra we already have two defined. I would argue a right-winger is the next port of call: a CB, AM, and RW should be expected to join before the close of the window. Whether that will be the Italian AM or the reported interest in Arjan Raikhy from Aston Villa.

Let us know how many you think Leicester City should sign through Foxes of Leicester’s social media channels. Personally, I think three is the realistic number of remaining signings, but five would be better, with an extra winger and midfielder replacing an outgoing goalkeeper hopefully, and possibly one to replace Kelechi Iheanacho if he does move this window.
