Leicester boss asked if Iheanacho and Ndidi will leave
At his pre-match press conferences before playing Rotherham United, Enzo Maresca was asked if Leicester City’s Nigerian stars Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi will leave the club this summer. Foxes of Leicester offer news and views with a transfer window wide open.
Most of the Leicester fan base would choose for Ndidi to stay with the side. I think the vast majority would like Iheanacho to be a Fox for at least this season.
Nevertheless, the LCFC boss claims that he cannot give assurances over any Fox’s future. Maresca said that anything can happen if a big bid transpires. And the gaffer is exactly right.
Leicester City head coach Enzo Maresca was also questioned on the status of Dennis Praet and Jannik Vestergaard
While some members of the Blue Army may perhaps not consider Praet and Vestergaard as particularly important for the east Midlands side this season or in general, Maresca appears to think differently. Praet seems to have a perpetual question mark over his LCFC standing for some reason. His awkward positioning at Leicester might be the answer: he has wanted out over the years because of this low ranking on Filbert Way.
Meanwhile Vestergaard is enjoying somewhat of a revival or renaissance, as it feels like supporters of the Leicestershire outfit are finally taking to the Dane. I must admit that I didn’t believe in his signing prior to the move. Nor did he ever convince me or any other managers of his usefulness, until now. Maresca admires and rates the centreback so he is possibly here to stay at this point, surprisingly.
When an enquiry from the media arose regarding whether Vestergaard and Praet shall remain with the squad, the ex-Manchester City coach gave the same answer as with the Super Eagles duo. Basically, even Maresca can’t guarantee anything.
